MARRIAGE LICENSE INFORMATION
FOR MASSACHUSETTS

If your wedding ceremony is in Massachusetts
you can apply for a marriage license at any
town hall in  Massachusetts
about 30 days before your wedding date.

The  both of you should go together
to the town hall of your choice
and apply with the town clerk.

Before you go call the Town Clerk to find out
if you need an appointment
and what proof of identity is needed.

Each Massachusetts community can set their own fees
(usually between $10.00 - $50.00)

Three days after you fill out the application
(there is a three day waiting period in MA)
one of you can pick up your marriage license.

Look it over for any mistakes
Please be sure that it has been signed or stamped by
the town clerk, the assistant clerk or the deputy clerk.
It will be valid for 60 days.
Check the validation date which will be on the top left.

I cannot marry you without this license
so please give it to me before your wedding.

After the wedding ceremony
I will fill out my portion of the license
and send it back to the town hall where you applied.

Your completed license should be ready
to pick up from that town hall
about 1 week after your wedding date.

Please call before you go to be sure that it's ready.

PLEASE NOTE:

State and county marriage license requirements often change.

The above information is for
guidance only it is not legal advice.

It is important that you verify all information with
your local marriage license office or town clerk
before making any wedding or travel plans.
